Caravan Coffee - Gift cards

Caravan is a restaurant and coffee roastery group with locations spanning Exmouth Market, King's Cross, London Bridge, City, Fitzrovia, Canary Wharf, Covent Garden, Manchester, and Chelsea (as Vardo), plus two standalone brew bars on Euston Road and Lambworks. Its gift card is built to move across all of it, restaurant tables, coffee counters, and the online shop alike.

Integrated Across Shopify, Klaviyo, and Toast

A Caravan gift card isn't scoped to a single site. It's redeemable at any of the nine restaurants, either brew bar, or online at caravanandco.com, covering everything from a sit-down dinner to a takeaway flat white to a bag of roasted beans shipped to someone's door.

Toast runs point-of-sale across the restaurants and brew bars, so a card works the same at the till whichever location a guest walks into. Shopify powers the online store, where the card is purchased and can also be spent on coffee, equipment, and merchandise. Klaviyo handles the email side, sending the card to its recipient within minutes of checkout.

A guest doesn't need to know which system is running behind the scenes. Buy the card online, and it's just as usable at a Manchester dinner table as it is at the Euston Road brew bar counter.

Why This Matters

For a group spanning eleven physical locations across two cities, plus an online shop, the alternative to this setup would be a gift card that only works wherever it happened to be bought. Instead, one card, tracked through one system, works identically no matter which of the eleven locations, or the website, the recipient chooses. Every redemption, wherever it happens, feeds back into the same trackable balance rather than a separate, location-specific ledger.

The Card

Cards are available across seven denominations: £25, £50, £100, £200, £300, £400, and £500, delivered by email within minutes of purchase. They're valid for 12 months, can be used multiple times until the balance runs out, and come with a self-service balance checker. The one carve-out: gift cards can't be put toward coffee classes or roastery visits; everything else across the restaurants, brew bars, and online shop is fair game.

How It Works

Every gift card starts in Leat, created once and made available across all three channels rather than configured separately for each one.

From there, a customer can purchase a card online through Shopify, with delivery handled by Klaviyo, and the recipient can redeem it at any restaurant or brew bar via Toast, or spend it online through the same Shopify store.

Behind the scenes, Leat tracks the balance centrally, so a card is just as redeemable at a London restaurant as it is at the Manchester location, with no manual reconciliation required between sites or systems.

The Takeaway

Caravan's gift card program is a strong example of matching the card's flexibility to the size and shape of the business itself. With restaurants, brew bars, and an online shop all connected through Toast, Shopify, and Klaviyo, a single card purchase turns into a genuinely open-ended gift, redeemable however and wherever the recipient wants to use it, rather than a voucher that quietly narrows their options.
