Introducing email engagement filters for contact lists
Email engagement filters let you create contact lists based on how people interact with campaigns, automated emails, and recurring emails. Combine engagement and timing conditions, prepare follow-up audiences before a campaign goes out, and let your lists update as new activity comes in.
Filter by email engagement: Create contact lists based on whether someone received, opened, or clicked a specific campaign, automated email, or recurring email.
Combine conditions for the same email: Build audiences such as contacts who opened a summer campaign but didn’t click, or received a welcome email more than 30 days ago but never opened it.
Prepare follow-up lists in advance: Scheduled and sending campaigns can be selected too. Your list will fill as emails are delivered and contacts engage.
Lists update with new engagement: Opens and clicks move contacts into the relevant lists shortly after they happen, rather than waiting for the nightly sync.
Build lists with Leat AI: Ask the AI Assistant something like “Make a list of everyone who opened the summer campaign but didn’t click,” and it can create the list for you.
Filter by subscription status: You can also filter contacts based on whether they’re subscribed to a specific subscription type.
Contact lists could already help you group customers based on who they are and what they’ve ordered. Now you can also build audiences around how they engage with your emails.
This makes it easier to follow up with the right contacts based on their actual email activity.
What this means for you
Create more targeted audiences for follow-ups, re-engagement, and future campaigns. For example, you can reach contacts who opened an email but didn’t click, or identify people who received an email but haven’t engaged with it yet.
Because lists respond to new opens and clicks shortly after they happen, your audiences can stay up to date as engagement comes in.
Good to know
Not opened can also include contacts who never received the email. Add received is true when you specifically want contacts who received it but didn’t open it.
Opens include machine opens, such as those generated by Apple Mail Privacy Protection, consistent with your email statistics.
Time-based conditions use the latest event. For example, “opened more than 60 days ago” means the contact’s most recent open was more than 60 days ago.
For recurring emails, engagement across all runs is considered together.
