Functionality Settings: Loyalty & Prepaid

Once your app settings and wallet passes are finalized, you can manage the core logic of your program under the Functionalities menu. This lesson guides you through setting up program naming conventions, establishing transaction units, defining how customers progress through loyalty tiers, and capping prepaid account balances.

Key Takeaways

  • Program and Point Customization: You can easily update your global program name and point labels to match your branding. While point limits can be lowered, the system maximum can be set just under one million (999,999) for a practically unlimited experience.

  • Understanding Transaction Units: By default, your program calculates point earnings and redemptions based on the customer's purchase amount. While you can add alternative, custom units, it is highly recommended to leave the purchase amount as your primary default unit.

  • Fair Tier Progress (Total Points Received): You can base tier milestones on current point balance, prepaid balance, transaction frequency, total spend, or custom attributes. However, keeping the default set to Total Points Received is highly recommended. This ensures that when a customer redeems their points for a reward, they aren’t unfairly demoted to a lower tier.

  • Prepaid Balance Controls: The prepaid functionality contains a single setting—the maximum monetary balance a customer is allowed to hold on their account at any given time. This threshold can be set as high or as low as your operational strategy requires.

  • Dashboard Clean Up Note: The dashboard features for scanning old QR codes and configuring transaction attributes are legacy tools that are being phased out. You can safely skip over them during your setup.

Dashboard Checklist

  1. Navigate to Functionalities > Loyalty in the left-hand menu.

  2. Update your Program Name and Points Name to align with your brand, and specify the maximum point capacity. Click Update.

  3. Verify that Purchase Amount is set as your default unit.

  4. Set your tier progress criteria, sticking to the recommended Total Points Received configuration for a fair customer experience.

  5. Head to Functionalities > Prepaid to input the maximum allowable prepaid balance for your customers, and hit Update.
