Exclusive access
Offer the benefits members talk about: member-only sales, previews, events, and service privileges. Add each to the catalog as a reward, show them to the members who qualify, and redeem them at the door, the till, or online. Because access carries no balance and no liability, it's the one class of loyalty benefit with no future obligation attached.
Open a launch, a sale, a drop, or reservations to members before the public, with windows by tier so Gold sees it two days early and Silver one. Online, the product page or the sale is gated to members until the window closes. In store, the early hour is checked at the door. Early access costs nothing and gives members the thing they value most: knowing they'll get it.
A tasting, a class, a preview evening, a members' hour with the store to themselves. Events are rewards with capacity instead of stock, booked through the wallet pass or the portal, and confirmed with a QR the member scans on arrival. Attendance is recorded against the customer, so the people who came are known, and what they did afterward is measurable.
Free alterations, free returns, a dedicated contact, a table held for regulars, priority collection. Service benefits are granted by tier or membership, and staff can see a member's entitlements when the member identifies at the till or is looked up. Status becomes something the member experiences during the visit, which is where it matters.
Every points program carries a liability on the books, and every voucher scheme carries breakage. Access carries neither. An early-access window that closes costs nothing whether ten members used it or a thousand. An event has a fixed cost regardless of how loyal the attendees turn out to be. For a finance team, access is the one class of loyalty benefit with no future obligation attached, and for a marketing team it's the one members mention to their friends.
Access design
Decide which benefits are access rather than money: early windows, events, service privileges, and at which tier or membership each is granted.
Door or counter recognition
Make sure staff can check a member's wallet pass and see their entitlements at the entrance or the checkout.
Access uptake review
Track who used each access benefit and compare their retention and spend with members who didn't.
Invitation management
Invite members to an event by email, let them claim their place as a reward in the portal, and record attendance when the code is redeemed at the door.
Member-only visibility
Use visibility filters so access rewards appear only to members, and to non-members as what joining unlocks.
